National Small Business Week – April 29 through May 5

In lieu of National Small Business Week, the IRS is focusing on a few of their resources to aid small business owners and self-employed individuals with their tax questions and obligations. These resources provide online learning to break down preparing and filing taxes, credits and deductions, and potential issues these companies and individuals may face.

We encourage all small business owners and self-employed individuals to check out the following links:

Sharing Economy Tax Center

For taxpayers who provide or share goods and services through a community based online platform (i.e. Airbnb, Uber, eBay, etc.)

Income from these platforms is taxable even if you did not receive an income statement. This resource provides you with all the necessary information about estimated payments, self-employment taxes, and business expenses.

Small Business and Self-Employed Tax Center

For taxpayers who file Form 1040, Schedules C, E, and F, or Form 2106 and for small businesses with assets under $10 million

Here you will receive information for preparing and filing taxes, general topics, and online learning.

Self-Employed Individuals Tax Center
For individuals who are considered sole proprietors or independent contractors, members of partnerships, or in a business (including part-time businesses)

Self-employed individuals can learn more about quarterly payments, filing returns, tax obligations, and joint ventures.
