IRS Releases Details on PTIN Holders

 

The IRS has released information from the Return Preparer office detailing the professional credentials of all PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) holders.

 

Almost 700,000 people have PTINs. They are required for all paid tax preparers but CPAs are, by far, the largest professional group among with PTINs. Following are Enrolled Agents and attorneys.

 

Since 2010, the IRS has cumulatively issued PTINs to 952,391 individuals. Below are the credentials as of 10/2/2013 provided by the IRS.
