Paper Cut - Emailing A Tax Return

To email a client a copy of their tax return using PaperCut, from the Main Menu of TaxSlayer Pro select:

  • The     Icon at the top of the screen
  • Select E-Mail
  • A list of clients will appear in a pick list.  Highlight the client and click 'OK' (or double click the client to open)
  • If you entered the client's e-mail address in the tax return, the e-mail address will automatically fill in.  Also, the 'From' address will be the address you entered into the Premium Configuration Menu.  (Either of these can be edited by left clicking inside the box and deleting/adding information.)
  • Select 'PDF to Attach' - all of the information stored in the client's folder will appear in the drop-down list.
  • Choose which file(s) to attach (if you wish to add an additional file(s) to the e-mail, select 'Attach PDF #2' and choose the file from the drop-down list.)
  • PaperCut will automatically rename the file to '20XX Tax Information'.  If you want to change the file name to something other than the default, left-click in the box and edit the file name.
  • PDF Password - when your client opens the attachment he/she will be prompted to enter a password to access the PDF.  The password is defaulted to the last four digits of the client's SSN.  You can change the password by left-clicking in the box, however, be sure that your client is aware of the password.
  • Subject Line and Body of E-Mail - the default subject will be 'Tax Information' you can change this by left-clicking in the box.  You can change or add text to the body of the e-mail by left-clicking in the box.
  • When you are ready to e-mail the return information to your client, select 'Send'.  If you are sending your e-mails through TaxSlayer Pro (the most common way), the e-mail will come to our secure servers and will then be forwarded to your client.

NOTE: Your client will NOT be able to reply to your email if you use TaxSlayer Pro's secure servers.
